Important Deadlines

Partial Withdrawal with Extenuating Circumstances – Decision made by the Associate Dean of the student’s academic college. Student Assistance and Support Services (SASS) receives request forms and supporting documentation and submits completed requests via Academic Petition on behalf of the student. Students requesting a Partial WE should ensure that their request form AND supporting documentation are submitted to SASS no later than 5:00pm on the last day of classes for the current semester.

Full Withdrawal with Extenuating Circumstances (Undergraduate Students) – Decision made by the Withdrawal Committee, chaired by SASS, on a monthly basis. For your request to be reviewed at a particular month’s scheduled meeting, students must have completed ALL steps of the Full WE process, as outlined, by 5:00 PM on the relevant date listed below.

Full Withdrawal with Extenuating Circumstances (Graduate Students) – Decision made by The Graduate School. SASS submits completed requests via Academic Petition on behalf of the student. For SASS to submit your request, students must have completed ALL steps of the Full WE process, as outlined, no later than 5:00pm on the last day of classes for the current semester.

Petition to Return – Decision made by Withdrawal Committee, chaired by SASS. This process is only for students who have previously been approved for a Full Withdrawal with Extenuating Circumstances. For your request to be reviewed, students must have submitted both their request form AND documentation by 5:00pm on the relevant date listed below. Please pay special attention to noted deadlines for Petition to Return for future semesters.

The Withdrawal Committee meets monthly. For your request to be heard, students must complete all steps for the Full WE or Petition to Return process by 5:00 PM on the dates listed below:
